I was really annoyed last night with Barack Obama. I just can't believe that somebody who is supposed to be such a great speaker doesn't know simple grammar. He was speaking about John Edwards and used the phrases "with him and I" and "with Senator Edwards and I". It should be "me" not "I". He was using a prepositional phrase! Barack Obama needs to go back to middle school English class!

I too noticed Obama's grammar problem during the debate. In the New York Times, concerning health care, he's quoted, "The main disagreement with John [Edwards] and I is John believes..."
Not only is he said to be a good writer, but he's a Harvard graduate - I mean an Harvard graduate.

How about Obama's "Who he got?" and "Where he at?" ... Is this presidential?

THANK YOU!!! I was so upset when I heard that press conference...and then to have to read about how presidential and intelligent he sounded..I adored him and worked for his election. Will someone set him straight?....by the way, he also said that his grandmother had lived through 2 world wars as she was born in 1922...it's no fun laughing @ Palin and Bush any more.yikes

Are you people stupid? It's the person you're referring to and I not and ME. It's bad grammar to say Michelle and ME as opposed to Michelle and I...which correct and how Barack speaks.
Go back to school people. You've been out too long and are clearly accepting bad grammar as good grammar. It is YOU who is wrong not Barack!

Acctually if it is a phrase where you would use the word I in the singular sentence such as
I went to the store
then it is I such as
Tom and I went to the store
but if you would normally use me such as She was talking to me
it would be
she was talking to John and me
You wouldn't say she was talking to I would you?

Lindsay Ray,
It is obviously YOU who needs to go back to grammar school. The objective case pronoun, me, is used when it is the object of a preposition, direct objectk, or indirect objective. In both cases of misuse Obama was to use the objective case pronoun, me, since it was being used as a direct object. I is a nominative case pronoun only to be used as a subject or a predicate nominative. Sorry, dear.

I cannot believe that this is such an important topic! Are there not better issues to focus on than one's grammar, come on people!! I personally do not care if a president’s grammar is not perfect as long as they are doing what is best for our Country. Why don't you get a job teaching English and then you can critique all you want for a living. We are facing extremely difficult times in our Country and yet the focus here is our Presidents misuse of he, I, me I before e except after c. It's embarrassing reading all of these people taking time to dispute what is proper grammar. Stop and take a good look at the crises our Country is facing. People are unable to get proper health care for lack of insurance, people are losing their homes, poverty is rising, and people are homeless living on the streets. This is what you should be concerned about not this petty knit picking bash session. I got to go now cause I don’t want to listen to this no more, I’m off to a funner site. Ha-ha…

Today Obama, when speaking in Iraq before American soldiers said "Michelle and myself." Ugh. How about a line item in the federal budget entitled " grammar lessons for our president."

If people were criticizing Bush for the way he spoke, they should not be upset at others criticizing the current President for the way he speaks. Obama's grammar leaves a lot to be desired.

It is becoming clear the Emperor has no clothes. I bet Dan Quayle is quite pleased now another Vice President is "dummer" than him by a factor of five. By the way, where are they hiding little Joey now a days?
